Feeding the ducks

On the weekends, I have been taking the boys to the lake in our neighborhood to feed the ducks in the mornings before it gets too hot. The boys have really been enjoying it and it's a great way to use up some old bread! The ducks are harmless but the geese make me nervous. Last weekend, they saw us coming and hopped out of the water to meet us. Tyce got surrounded and instead of distracting them (like a good Mama should) I got out my phone to take a picture! LOL

Here's Tyce being surrounded by the ducks & geese. He ended up jumping over them to get away, which worked out great. Then, we ran to the other side of the lake and they took the shortcut through the water to meet us for food.

I bought this Buzz Lightyear costume from a lady in Maricopa that was moving for $10.00. I brought it home and Jake immediately wanted to put it on. As soon as he was fully dressed, he proceded to run around the house saying "To Infinity and Beyond!" He told me that he was a real Space Ranger now that he has his wings (that actually light up when you push a button). Jake will probably end up being "That weird kid that is always wearing that Buzz Lightyear costume", but since he's 2 and so stinking cute, I'm ok with that! :)

One of my favorite things to snack on is my Pineapple Mango Salsa! It's super easy to make and tastes great! You can eat with chips or put on top of some chicken. My mom started making this and I fell in love at first bite! Whenever I make it, it reminds me of home.

Here's my recipe:

Dice some fresh jalapenos

Cut up 1/2 fresh pineapple into small chunks

Peel and dice 1 fresh mango

Add some Mrs. Dash Caribbean Citrus seasoning and mix. You may want to add a little bit of lime juice as well

And here's your Pineapple Mango Salsa!

I love to eat it with Frito-Lay's Tostitos "Hint of Lime" tortilla chips!

Tyce's 1st deep sea fishing trip

The beginning of July, my mom took Tyce on his first Deep-Sea fishing trip. They took off out of Newport Beach and went over to Catalina Island. Here's a picture of Tyce and all of the fish they caught (Red & Black are Sheep Heads and the other are Calico Bass).

On April 20th, my baby boy turned 2 years old! I can't believe how fast time has gone by. It seems like not so long ago that I brought this little bundle of joy home from the hospital! The past two years have been full of new adventures. Jake has become such a fun little boy, loves to play games, watch movies, and is talking up a storm. He has full on conversations now and is saying new words everyday! We had his birthday party at Amazing Jake's in Mesa. It was such a fun night and he really had a blast! Last Friday, we went to the dunes to hang out with my dad & Tyce. I wasn't sure how Jake would like it...he hadn't been out there since he was only 7 months old. Well, he loves it! He was entertained the entire time by hoping on whatever quad or sandrail was available. He is obsessed! It was actually really cute! I'm glad that this is something that our entire family enjoys. My mom signed up Jake for swimming lessons at Aqua Tots. On Sundays, they have free swim time for people that are signed up for lessons. Today, my mom suggested that me and Tyce come with to show us how well Jake is doing. I am so impressed with how comfortabe he is in the water and how much he has improved with only 3 lessons so far. He really loves learning new things and listens so well to directions. After going over the lessons, we decided to have a little fun too. Here's a picture of Jake and Tyce in a floating foam boat. (My mom is there to insure no tipping.)

Shirl's Girls Trip 2011

Once a year, all the ladies on my mom's side of the family (21 & over) get together for a girl's trip weekend. This year, we went to Flagstaff. We had an amazing time! Here's a picture of us all outside of Oregano's: Rhonda, Barb, Denise, Joelle, Lindsay, Holly, Kathy, Grandma, Stacey and Me!

Ding Dong Ditching!

Last week, my friend Rachael shared a really cute idea that she and her kids did....Taking the kids Ding Dong Ditching with a twist! I decided to copy her great idea and have some good clean fun with the boys. Instead of just ringing the doorbell and running off, we left a Hostess Ding Dong with a tag so our "victims" would not be too annoyed! :) Here's a picture of what it looked like.

Hogs N Heat

Saturday, we went with my friend Athena and her two kids to Hogs n Heat in Rock Springs, AZ. It's a little stop just north of Anthem on the I-17. The first Saturday of the month they have a festival where they play live music, have tons of Barbeque Beef, Chicken, pulled Pork and Rocky Mountain Oysters (for the adventurous few...) They have a bounce house, lots of games and kids under 10 are free. It was such a great time and we captured some awesome memories on camera too!

My family all loves to go to the sand dunes for fun and my dad is the ultimate duner. He's always looking for new toys for him and the boys. Last Friday, he decided that Tyce was ready for an upgrade and bought him a 250 (his current quad is a 90, so this one has much more power!) When I brought the boys to my parents for the weekend, Jake caught a glimpse of the quad in my dad's truck bed and insisted on riding it. I had to get a picture of my two boys on the quad. So funny!!!

Girl's Trip to Prescott, AZ!

Last weekend, I got to go to Prescott, AZ. with two of my favorite girls for a little getaway. It's always such a blast with my friend Athena and cousin/BFF Lindsay! We spent the weekend at the Historic Hassayampa Inn and painted the town at night!

At night, we hit up the local bars, danced, sang Karaoke, played pool and drank A LOT!!! Here's a pic of us all doing shots.....Thankfully, we walked everywhere and no one had to drive under the influence!

We went for a Migun Bed Massage, which was incredible! The bed has massage rollers and Infared Heat and for an hour massage, it only cost $5 each!!! Totally great!

I've always thought that those cute little puppies being carried around in a purse by their owners were adorable, but I've always had dogs that were too big! A couple nights ago, Tyce tells me, "Mama, look at my purse dog!". I turned around and saw that Tyce had Jake in a Kohl's reusable shopping bag and was carrying him around. I thought that it was so funny and cute, I had to take a photo!

For Christmas, my parents got us tickets to see the Harlem Globetrotters. Last Sunday was the day and the boys were so excited! Kenny ended up having to work, so it was my dad, my mom, Tyce, Jake and myself. We really enjoyed the show and the boys were excited for the Team Shirts and basketball souveniours.

Some good friends of mine were moving into their new house a couple weeks ago. I knew that they had their hands full with everything to move, plus their 4 kids. So, I offered to watch their baby girl Dylan for the night to help out. Jake and Dylan ended up having so much fun playing together. Jake really enjoyed having a playmate in the bath too. They're almost a year apart in age, but pretty close in size. I thought this was a cute picture of them in the tub!

Friday morning, My mom and I took Jake to the Phoenix Zoo for their "Noon Year's Eve" party. They brought in snow for the kids to play with, so we got all bundled up and went to check it out. Jake ended up not wanting to play in the snow, so it was a good thing that we were able to still check out the Zoo. It was so cold outside, so we tried to make the best of it, but you can tell by the look on Jake's face it was chilly.

Christmas Holiday Cookie Party

Last weekend, I had a holiday cookie baking party with a couple of my friends, my mom and all of our kids....16 of us to be exact. We, meaning the adults, were definitely out-numbered by the kids. We made a bunch of sugar cookie cut-outs and frosted and decorated them. It was such a fun day, but very exhausting. I know that the kids really enjoyed participating in this fun holiday tradition. Vegas Vacation

This past weekend, we went with my mom to Las Vegas for a little fun. We did a whole bunch of fun kid-friendly activities and the boys had an awesome time. Here's a picture of them by the pool area at Caesar's Palace, where we stayed.

We all love watching the show "Pawn Stars", so we decided to go there and check it out. Here's Tyce in front of the store.

Mustangs Win the Championship!!!!!

Last Saturday, Tyce's football team played in the Championship and won 21-0. They had such an amazing season, ending undefeated! I'm so proud of all the players, coaches and parents! It's so nice to be rewarded for all of our hard work!

Since football season is here, every weekend we go to Tyce's games and cheer on the team! The Mustangs are doing great this season and haven't lost a single game yet! They are currently 8-0 with only 13 points scored against them all season!!! I am really confident that we'll be bringing home the Championship this time and I'm so very proud of them all for playing their hearts out and doing great! Saturday night, my parents took me and the boys to Peter Piper Pizza for some food and fun. We had a great time playing skee-ball (jake's new favorite game), riding on the carousel and winning tickets. Here's a cute picture of my boys riding on the little carousel together. Today, I went to Chase Field with my mom to pick up tickets for the Diamondbacks game next week. We parked in the VIP lot and on our way out, I saw Luis Gonzalez walking in. I ran up and asked him if he would take a picture with me. He was so nice and polite. What a great guy!

I put together a bike that Jake got for his birthday. It can either rock, roll or ride. Here's Jake on it Rocking.

He really likes being able to scoot it along himself though. And loves when I push him on it. His legs are still a little too short to reach the pedals, but it's so nice that he'll be able to play with this for a while yet.

This past weekend, I went on the annual "Girl's trip" with my mom and a bunch of her friends. We had such a great time hanging out, playing games, getting pedicures, and lots of shopping. Thanks to everyone for such a wonderful weekend. And thanks to Kenny for giving me the chance to get away.

Jake will be turning one on April 20th (only 13 days left). He is now walking better than ever and yesterday he stood up on his own without pulling himself up on something first. I can't believe that he's getting so big so fast. It seems like I just had him. We are having a birthday party for him on Sunday April 18th. His sister, Stefani, is coming to town from California to celebrate. She hasn't seen him since his Baptism in August, so she will be quite surprised to see how much he has grown. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful family.

Last night after dinner, we were at home and Jake was crawling around playing. He pulled himself up to hold onto the tv and decided that he was going to walk to me (I was on the other side of the room). He actually made it!!! I can't believe how fast he is growing. He had taken 4 or 5 steps in a row before, but never went across a whole room. So amazing!

Jake loves to go with his Mama to his big brother's football games. We have a pop-up ramada that we bring for shade and Jake loves to hold onto the pole and do a little dance. He is getting so darn cute!

Tyce did really well at the last football game. He caught an interception and scored a touchdown! It was really a proud moment for us all! We are currently 4-0! Go Mustangs and keep up the hard work!

Busy busy busy

So I am now the team mom for Tyce's football team this season. It has been quite an adventure and has been keeping me busier than ever. Sorry that I have not posted anything lately.

So, my mom had surgery yesterday and is doing wonderful. She will be going home from the hospital this afternoon. Thank you everyone for your support, kind thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it!

Wildlife World Zoo

On Saturday, we went to the Wildlife World Zoo with Sheila, my Aunt Stacey, Matt, Will and Sophie. We had such a great time and can't wait to go back again soon.

The giraffes ate right out of our hands with their 2 ft. long tongue.

I took Jake to get a haircut on Sunday. It was his first time having the clippers used on him. He did such a good job! He's getting so big!

I was due last Saturday (4/11) but Jake has decided that he is very content in my tummy and has made no effort in coming out. I am scheduled to be induced Sunday morning (4/19) if he doesn't come earlier than that.

So, I am now 32 weeks pregnant and getting very excited! We have decided to name our little boy Jake Edward Jackson (after my dad Jay and Kenny's dad Edward). The baby shower is next Saturday and time seems to be flying by now. I can't wait to meet my little guy.

This is my best friend and cousin Lindsay. She is the most wonderful, kind-hearted, most fun person in the world. We grew up right down the street from one another and were more like sisters than cousins. Whenever I have needed someone to listen, she has always been there. She is the godmother to my son and the Maid of Honor in my wedding. I love my Lindsay girl!

Alaskan Cruise June 2008

At the end of June this year, I went on a cruise to Alaska with my husband Kenny and my parents. It was so wonderful. The weather and scenery were gorgeous, the food was plentiful and the company was fabulous. I am very fortunate to have such wonderful parents that I am able to spend a great deal of time with. We went to Juneau, Scagway, Ketchikan and Victoria, Canada. We were able to see some great waterfalls, glaciers, rainforests and beautiful sea creatures. It was really a memorable experience.
